THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL'S LOOK LIKE A FRENCH STAR

Here we go. The 70th Cannes Film Festival has begun. A glamorous, magical event, forget classicism, discretion and normality, make space for breathtaking high-heels, some glitter… the fashion is to be over sublime, over “magnifique” and we must not forget the less is more for the Parisienne look.

We all dream of playing the stars, walking up the stairs on the red carpet, shining all night long, being photographed at our best. Spotlight on chic… work on your style, you will be guaranteed success.

FRENCH PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

In the news over the past few months, or more recently in Australia, you have certainly noticed the importance that politics generates for French people, and with good reason…

2016 and 2017 have been full of rebounds in politics especially with the Presidential elections but also due to the multiple terrorist attacks that have impacted the hearts of French people even on the other side of the planet.

So a few of my Australian friends started to ask questions about French politics. Before getting to the heart of the matter, I want to make a point about the fact that I haven’t studied politics, I’m just interested even sometimes passionate about the topic, curious and most of all realising with age how important it is for me to feel invested in politics, in my professional life or in my personal life, to fight for what I believe to be fair and for my convictions. Also, I’m not a journalist, just a woman who loves words and shares her doubts, her certainties, her fears. For a long time I wanted to be a journalist but decided finally to turn to communication and advertising. In a nutshell, all this to tell you that I’m not the right one to give you a judicious and in-depth political analysis however I’m glad to share and highlight the main points of these elections for you.

IS THE FRENCH WOMAN FEMINIST?

The 8th of March was International Woman’s Day and this year I must tell you that I was in two minds about the idea of this day. Not that I am not for valuing women and being reminded that women are still victims of inequalities in our “modern” societies but rather because I am sad to notice that we need a day each year to remember that as women we are a part of this world. Shouldn’t we extend this day to the other 364 days of the year?

MAKE A DIFFERENCE, OWN YOUR UNIQUE STYLE

Nowadays, we are constantly bombarded by all types of advertising and marketing that try to convince us what is the best for us: from what we have to eat to be healthy, where we have to go out to be trendy to how to dress to make sure we are in the frontline of fashion. However, I don’t know about you, but I am gradually feeling more oppressed by this desire to standardise people, to make me look like Madame Tout le Monde (Madame everyone) without even considering what I like, my personality or my current cravings.
